Product Overview
Clone AOC-3 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes caspase-9 (gene CASP9) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 46.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 48 kDa.
Caspase-9 is the initiator caspase of the intrinsic, mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. When cytochrome c is released from mitochondria, it binds Apaf-1 to form the apoptosome, which activates caspase-9; caspase-9 then cleaves and activates caspase-3 and caspase-7. It is a standard marker in studies of DNA damage-induced and stress-induced apoptosis.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human liver cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human caspase-9.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous, with highest expression in the heart, moderate expression in liver, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
