Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes cystathionine beta-synthase (gene CBS) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 60.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 63 kDa.
Cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the first step of the transsulfuration pathway, joining homocysteine and serine to form cystathionine. This removes homocysteine and supplies cysteine, and CBS also produces hydrogen sulfide. Inherited CBS deficiency is the most common cause of classical homocystinuria.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Raji cells, human HeLa cells, huamn HEK293 cells, human HepG2 cells, human K562 cells, rat liver tissue, rat pancreas tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse pancreas tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.25 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): MCF-7 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Caco-2 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CBS fragment (Lys102–Glu342), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places cystathionine beta-synthase in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): In the adult strongly expressed in liver and pancreas, some expression in heart and brain, weak expression in lung and kidney. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
