Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets chromobox protein homolog 8 (gene CBX8) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 43.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 43–50 kDa.
CBX8 is a chromobox component of Polycomb repressive complex 1 (PRC1), which maintains gene silencing during development. Its chromodomain recognizes methylated histone H3, helping target PRC1 to repressed genes such as HOX clusters and the INK4a/ARF locus. It is studied in development, leukemia and solid tumors.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human A549 cells, human U2OS cells, human Colo320 cells, huamn Raji cells, huamn SW620 cells, rat PC-12 cells, mouse SP2/0 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.25 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human rectal cancer tissue, mouse small intestine tissue, rat small intestine tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A549 cells.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): human rectal cancer tissue.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): A549 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Cbx8 fragment (Met1–Arg389), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places chromobox protein homolog 8 in the nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
