Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-CCR2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A00158-4.

Biological background

Biological context: Receptor for the CCL2, CCL7 and CCL13 chemokines. Receptor for the beta-defensin DEFB106A/DEFB106B. Transduces a signal by increasing intracellular calcium ion levels. Upon CCL2 ligation, mediates chemotaxis and migration induction through the activation of the PI3K cascade, the small G protein Rac and lamellipodium protrusion (Probable). (Microbial infection) Alternative coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cell membrane. Multi-pass membrane protein., tissue context: Expressed by monocytes and IL2-activated NK cells..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare CCR2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of CCR2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify CCR2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Specificity: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Background: C-C chemokine receptor type 2 (CCR2 or CD192 (cluster of differentiation 192) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CCR2 gene. It is mapped to 3p21.31. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, a chemokine which specifically mediates monocyte chemotaxis. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 is involved in monocyte infiltration in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis as well as in the inflammatory response against tumors. The encoded protein mediates agonist-dependent calcium mobilization and inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. This protein can also be a coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cell membrane. Multi-pass membrane protein.
  • Tissue details: Expressed by monocytes and IL2-activated NK cells.
  • Research category: Atherosclerosis,Cancer,Cardiovascular,Chemokines,G Protein Signaling,Host-Virus Interaction,Immunology,Innate Immunity,Interspecies Interaction,Macrophage/Inflammation,Microbiology,Nuclear Signaling,Signal Transduction,Signaling Pathway,Vascular Inflammation

Is a blocking peptide available for product anti-CCR2 antibody (A00158-4)?
We do provide the blocking peptide for product anti-CCR2 antibody (A00158-4). If you would like to place an order for it please contact support@bosterbio.com and make a special request.
We ordered your anti-CCR2 antibody for WB on leukocyte a few years ago. I am using human, and We are going to use the antibody for ELISA next. I was wanting to use examining leukocyte as well as thymus trachea in our next experiment. Could you please give me some suggestion on which antibody would work the best for ELISA?
I looked at the website and datasheets of our anti-CCR2 antibody and it appears that A00158-4 has been validated on human in both WB and ELISA. Thus A00158-4 should work for your application. Our Boster satisfaction guarantee will cover this product for ELISA in human even if the specific tissue type has not been validated. We do have a comprehensive range of products for ELISA detection and you can check out our website bosterbio.com to find out more information about them.
