Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (gene CCR5) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 40.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 40 kDa.
CCR5 is a G protein-coupled chemokine receptor for CCL3, CCL4 and CCL5 that guides T cells and macrophages to sites of inflammation. It is also the main co-receptor for R5 strains of HIV-1, and the natural CCR5-Δ32 deletion protects against infection, making it a central target in HIV and immunology research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Jurkat cells, human MCF-7 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human CCR5. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 88%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places C-C chemokine receptor type 5 in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in spleen, thymus, in the myeloid cell line THP-1, in the promyeloblastic cell line KG-1a and on CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
