Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 (gene CD163) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 125.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 150 kDa.
CD163 is a scavenger receptor on monocytes and macrophages that takes up hemoglobin–haptoglobin complexes, protecting tissues from free hemoglobin and supporting iron recycling. It is widely used as a marker of anti-inflammatory (M2-like) macrophages, and its soluble form is measured as a readout of macrophage activation.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human hcct tissue, human hccp tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Jurkat cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human CD163.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 in the [Soluble CD163]: Secreted and SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in monocytes and mature macrophages such as Kupffer cells in the liver, red pulp macrophages in the spleen, cortical macrophages in the thymus, resident bone marrow macrophages and meningeal macrophages of the central nervous system. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
