Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule (gene Pecam1) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 81.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 100–120 kDa.
PECAM-1 (CD31) is an immunoglobulin-superfamily adhesion receptor concentrated at endothelial cell junctions and also found on platelets and leukocytes. Through homophilic binding it supports endothelial junction integrity and the passage of leukocytes across the vessel wall during inflammation, and it is the most widely used endothelial marker for staining blood vessels.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.25 µg/mL (Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 2–5 µg/mL (Mouse, Rat) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat lung tissue, rat spleen tissue, rat heart tissue, mouse lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 8% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse colon tissue, mouse kidney tissue, rat colon tissue, rat heart tissue, rat kidney tissue, rat liver tissue, rat lung tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse CD31/Pecam1 fragment (Gln41–Glu258), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule in the cell membrane, membrane raft and cell junction. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed in lung and platelets (at protein level)... The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
