Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets ADP-ribosyl cyclase/cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase 1 (gene CD38) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 34.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 45 kDa.
CD38 is a transmembrane enzyme that synthesizes and hydrolyzes cyclic ADP-ribose, a calcium-mobilizing second messenger, and is a major consumer of NAD+. It is highly expressed on plasma cells and activated lymphocytes, so it is used as an activation and plasma cell marker and studied in multiple myeloma and NAD+ metabolism.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Daudi cells, human RAMOS cells, human A549 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human tonsil tissue, human appendicitis tissue, human lung cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Raji cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human CD38.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places ADP-ribosyl cyclase/cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase 1 in the cell surface and cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at high levels in pancreas, liver, kidney, brain, testis, ovary, placenta, malignant lymphoma and neuroblastoma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
