Product Overview
Clone 17C68 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes complement decay-accelerating factor (gene CD55) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 41.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 75 kDa.
CD55, or decay-accelerating factor (DAF), is a GPI-anchored complement regulator on blood and many other cells. It speeds the breakdown of C3 and C5 convertases, protecting host cells from complement damage, and its loss on red cells contributes to paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 1:500–1:2000 |
|---|---|
| Immunohistochemistry | 1:50–1:200 |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A549 cells, human HeLa cells, human SIHA cells, human PC-3 cells, human Caco-2 cells, human K562 cells, human HEL cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human colon tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human CD55.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed on the plasma membranes of all cell types that are in intimate contact with plasma complement proteins. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
