Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain (gene Cd79a) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 24.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25–30 kDa.
CD79a (Igα) pairs with CD79b to form the signaling unit of the B-cell antigen receptor. Its ITAM motif is phosphorylated after antigen binding to start downstream signaling, and it is required for B-cell development, making it a standard pan-B-cell marker in tissue and lymphoma studies.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat spleen tissue, mouse spleen tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse thymus tissue, rat thymus tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): mouse intestine (lymph node) tissue, rat intestine tissue.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): mouse spleen tissue.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse Cd79a fragment (Leu29–Pro220), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): B-cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
