Product Overview

Clone AFBI-3 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain (gene CD79B) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 26.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 30–50 kDa.

CD79b (Igβ) forms a heterodimer with CD79a that carries the signaling function of the B-cell antigen receptor. Its ITAM motif drives signaling after antigen engagement, and it is needed for B-cell development and is studied in B-cell lymphomas that depend on chronic receptor signaling.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): B-cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200; Flow cytometry 1:50; Immunoprecipitation 1:50. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Has this antibody been tested on primate samples?
A.Reactivity with primate samples has not been tested by the supplier. Aligning the immunogen sequence with the primate ortholog (e.g., by BLAST) helps estimate the chance of cross-reactivity.
Q.Is a blocking reagent available for this antibody?
A.A matching blocking reagent for competition (specificity) controls can be supplied on request. Contact info@biohippo.com to request it.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 26.0 kDa; observed bands at about 30 and 50 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human CD79b.
