Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: CD80 — T-lymphocyte activation antigen CD80
  • Antibody format: Host: Rabbit; Clonality: Monoclonal; Clone: Clone: AOEH-3; Isotype: Rabbit IgG
  • Species reactivity: Human
  • Molecular weight guidance: Observed: 103 kDa; Calculated: 33048 MW

Biological background

Protein function (datasheet): Involved in the costimulatory signal essential for T- lymphocyte activation. T-cell proliferation and cytokine production is induced by the binding of CD28, binding to CTLA-4 has opposite effects and inhibits T-cell activation. .

Cellular localization (datasheet): Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue details (datasheet): Expressed on activated B-cells, macrophages and dendritic cells.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Commonly studied in contexts related to Adaptive Immunity,B Cells,Hematopoietic Progenitors,Immunology,Lymphoid,Myeloid,Stem Cells.
  • Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
  • Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).

Common research applications

  • Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Assess tissue distribution and cell-type patterns; interpret staining with appropriate negative controls and antigen context.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
  • Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.

As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.

We are currently using anti-CD80/B7 1 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody M00196 for human tissue, and we are happy with the IHC results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human. Is it possible that the antibody can work on dog tissues as well?
The anti-CD80/B7 1 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody (M00196) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with dog tissues, though there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in dog you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
