Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-CD90/Thy1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01818-1.

Biological background

Biological context: May play a role in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other events in the brain.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor., tissue context: Detected adjacent to nodes of Ranvier in juxtaparanodal zones in spinal cord nerve fibers, but also in paranodal regions in some myelinated spinal cord axons (at protein level) (PubMed:11086297). Detected in the islet of Langerhans (PubMed:21483673)..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare THY1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of THY1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify THY1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Specificity: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Background: CD90 (Cluster of Differentiation 90) or Thy-1 is a 25–37 kDa heavily N-glycosylated, glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored conserved cell surface protein with a single V-like immunoglobulin domain, originally discovered as a thymocyte antigen. The CD90 gene is mapped to 11q23.3. Thy-1 can be used as a marker for a variety of stem cells and for the axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural study of Thy-1 lead to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily, of which it is the smallest member, and led to the first biochemical description and characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor.
  • Tissue details: Detected adjacent to nodes of Ranvier in juxtaparanodal zones in spinal cord nerve fibers, but also in paranodal regions in some myelinated spinal cord axons (at protein level) (PubMed:11086297). Detected in the islet of Langerhans (PubMed:21483673).

We bought anti-CD90/Thy1 antibody for WB on brain in a previous project. I am using human, and We want to use the antibody for ELISA next. I am interested in examining brain as well as amygdala in our next experiment. Could give a recommendation on which antibody would work the best for ELISA?
I viewed the website and datasheets of our anti-CD90/Thy1 antibody and I see that A01818-1 has been tested on human in both WB and ELISA. Thus A01818-1 should work for your application. Our Boster satisfaction guarantee will cover this product for ELISA in human even if the specific tissue type has not been validated. We do have a comprehensive range of products for ELISA detection and you can check out our website bosterbio.com to find out more information about them.
