Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects borealin (gene CDCA8) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 31.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 35 kDa.
Borealin (CDCA8) is a subunit of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), together with Aurora B, INCENP and survivin. The CPC targets to centromeres to correct faulty kinetochore attachments and later acts at the spindle midzone in cytokinesis, so borealin is studied in mitosis and chromosome segregation.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human K562 cells, human HEL cells, human A431 cells, human A549 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): K562 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CDCA8 fragment (Asp72–Lys280), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 76% and 77.8%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places borealin in the nucleus, cytoplasm and chromosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
