Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes cyclin-dependent kinase 8 (gene CDK8) in human samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 53.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 53 kDa.
CDK8 is a cyclin C-dependent kinase that forms the kinase module of the Mediator complex, which relays signals from gene-specific transcription factors to RNA polymerase II. By phosphorylating transcription factors and Mediator partners it can activate or repress gene programs, and it is studied in transcriptional regulation and cancer signaling.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human K562 cells, human Jurkat cells, human Caco-2 cells, human HEK293 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
E. coli-derived human Cdk8 recombinant protein (K355-Y464).
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places cyclin-dependent kinase 8 in the nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
