Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects chitinase-3-like protein 1 (gene Chi3l1) in mouse samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 43.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 43 kDa.
Chitinase-3-like protein 1 (CHI3L1, YKL-40) is a secreted glycoprotein that binds chitin and other carbohydrates but has no chitinase activity. It is produced by macrophages, chondrocytes and other cells and is linked to tissue remodeling and Th2-type inflammation, so it is widely studied in inflammation, fibrosis and cancer.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse RAW264.7 cells, mouse HEPA1–6 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Recombinant mouse CHI3L1 fragment (Tyr30–Lys262), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse. UniProt describes chitinase-3-like protein 1 as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm and endoplasmic reticulum. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Detected in lung in pulmonary macrophages and alveolar type 2 cells and in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluids. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
