Product Overview
Clone 27C71 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes rab proteins geranylgeranyltransferase component A 1 (gene CHM) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 73.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 95 kDa.
Rab escort protein 1 (REP1, encoded by CHM) binds newly made Rab GTPases and presents them to Rab geranylgeranyltransferase for lipid modification. It then delivers the modified Rabs to membranes, and loss of REP1 causes choroideremia, an inherited degeneration of the retina and choroid.
