Product Overview
Clone 24C16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes neuronal acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha-5 (gene CHRNA5) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 53.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
The neuronal acetylcholine receptor alpha-5 subunit (CHRNA5) is an accessory subunit that joins other alpha and beta subunits in pentameric nicotinic receptors, modifying their calcium permeability and sensitivity. Genetic variants in CHRNA5 are among the best-established risk factors for nicotine dependence.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human CHRNA5.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places neuronal acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha-5 in the synaptic cell membrane and cell membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
