Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects CLIP-associating protein 2 (gene CLASP2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 141.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 165 kDa.

CLASP2 is a microtubule plus-end tracking protein closely related to CLASP1. It stabilizes microtubules at the cell cortex and kinetochores, supports Golgi-derived microtubule nucleation and polarized cell migration, and is studied in cell division and neuronal development.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat)
Flow cytometry (fixed cells) 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human)
ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HEK293 cells, human SH-SY5Y cells, human HL-60 cells, rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): THP-1 cells.

Immunogen

Recombinant human CLASP2 fragment (Ala266–Asp1230), expressed in E. coli.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places CLIP-associating protein 2 in the cytoplasm, chromosome, Golgi apparatus and cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Brain-specific. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat); Flow cytometry (fixed cells) 1–3 µg/1×10⁶ cells (Human); ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 141.1 kDa; observed band at about 165 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Recombinant human CLASP2 fragment (Ala266–Asp1230), expressed in E. coli.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
