Coenzyme A synthase (COASY) is a bifunctional enzyme that carries out the last two steps of CoA biosynthesis: adenylation of 4′-phosphopantetheine and phosphorylation of dephospho-CoA. Because CoA is essential for fatty acid and energy metabolism, COASY is studied in metabolic research and neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation.

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places bifunctional coenzyme A synthase in the cytoplasm and mitochondrion matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in all tissues examined including brain, heart, skeletal muscle, colon, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, small intestine, placenta, lung and peripheral blood leukocyte.
