Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets collagen alpha-1(II) chain (gene COL2A1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ELISA.
Collagen α1(II) chain (COL2A1) forms type II collagen, the main collagen of hyaline cartilage and the vitreous of the eye. It is essential for skeletal development and for cartilage resistance to compression, and it is a standard chondrocyte marker in cartilage and osteoarthritis research.

Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Recombinant human Collagen Type II/COL2A1 fragment (Gly1217–Ala1241), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Isoform 2 is highly expressed in juvenile chondrocyte and low in fetal chondrocyte.
