Product Overview
Clone 15C10 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that recognizes catechol O-methyltransferase (gene COMT) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 30.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 29 kDa.
Catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) transfers a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine to catechols, inactivating dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine and catechol estrogens. It also metabolizes drugs such as L-DOPA, and COMT is widely studied in neuropharmacology, prefrontal dopamine signaling and Parkinson disease therapy.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells, MCF-7 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): K562 cells, U87 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human COMT fragment (Gly52–Pro271), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 81.9% and 81%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Brain, liver, placenta, lymphocytes and erythrocytes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
