Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (gene PTGS2) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 69.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 75 kDa.
COX-2 (PTGS2) is the inducible cyclooxygenase-peroxidase that converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandin H2, the precursor of prostaglandins and thromboxanes. Its expression rises sharply in response to cytokines, growth factors and tumor promoters, making it a central marker in studies of inflammation, pain and cancer and the target of selective COX-2 inhibitors.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Jurkat cells, human HeLa cells, human HepG2 cells, human A549 cells, human U87 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human PTGS2. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at eight residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 in the microsome membrane, endoplasmic reticulum membrane, nucleus inner membrane and nucleus outer membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
