Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects carnitine O-palmitoyltransferase 1, liver isoform (gene CPT1A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 88.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 88 kDa.
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A) is the liver isoform of the outer mitochondrial membrane enzyme that attaches long-chain fatty acyl groups to carnitine. This is the rate-limiting step for fatty acid entry into mitochondria for β-oxidation, and CPT1A is inhibited by malonyl-CoA, making it central to lipid metabolism research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human MCF-7 cells, human RT-4 cells, rat liver tissue, rat kidney tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse kidney tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human adenocarcinoma of the right colon tissue, human breast cancer tissue, human cervical cancer tissue, rat kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): T-47D cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U251 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human CPT1A fragment (Met122–Lys556), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places carnitine O-palmitoyltransferase 1, liver isoform in the mitochondrion outer membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Strong expression in kidney and heart, and lower in liver and skeletal muscle. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
