Product Overview
Clone AAAE-3 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes transcriptional repressor CTCF in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 82.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 150 kDa.
CTCF is a zinc finger DNA-binding protein that organizes the three-dimensional structure of the genome. Together with cohesin it anchors chromatin loops and insulates active from repressed domains, blocking inappropriate enhancer-promoter contacts. At the imprinted IGF2/H19 locus, its binding to the unmethylated maternal allele controls allele-specific expression, making CTCF central to chromatin architecture research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human Jurkat cells, human MCF-7 cells, human SIHA cells, rat brain tissue, rat lung tissue, mouse brain tissue, mouse lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human CTCF.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places transcriptional repressor CTCF in the nucleus and chromosome. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
