Product Overview
Clone 20C32 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes sterol 26-hydroxylase, mitochondrial (gene CYP27A1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 60.2 kDa; the supplier reports observed bands at 50, 60 kDa.
Sterol 27-hydroxylase (CYP27A1) is a mitochondrial cytochrome P450 that oxidizes the side chain of cholesterol and related sterols. It participates in bile acid synthesis, especially via the alternative (acidic) pathway, and forms 27-hydroxycholesterol, an oxysterol signal. Loss of CYP27A1 causes cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis, and it is studied in cholesterol and bile acid metabolism.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human Caco-2 cells, rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human CYP27A1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places sterol 26-hydroxylase, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion inner membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the neural retina and underlying retinal pigment epithelium (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
