Product Overview
Clone 28C59 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes cystatin-B (gene CSTB) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 11.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 14 kDa.
Cystatin B (CSTB, also called stefin B) is an intracellular inhibitor that binds cathepsins L, H and B tightly and reversibly, protecting cells from uncontrolled lysosomal proteolysis. Loss-of-function mutations in CSTB cause progressive myoclonus epilepsy type 1 (Unverricht-Lundborg disease), so it is studied in neurobiology and protease regulation.

|---|---|
| Immunohistochemistry | 1:50–1:200 |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): U87-MG cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human cystatin B.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places cystatin-B in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
