  • Antibody format: Monoclonal; clone GOC-3; isotype Rabbit IgG.
  • Host: Rabbit.
  • Species reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat (confirm in your model system with appropriate controls).

This description is intended to help interpret the antibody design and the biological context of the target using the fields provided in the catalog record, alongside general experimental considerations.

Biological background

CYCS (protein: T-cell surface glycoprotein CD3 zeta chain) is a commonly studied target in molecular and cellular biology. Functional context (as provided): Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain. Reported cellular localization context: Mitochondrion intermembrane space. Loosely associated with the inner membrane. Tissue expression notes (as provided): Expressed in a wide variety of tissues.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Research context keywords from the source record include: Apoptosis,Apoptotic Markers,Cancer,Cancer Metabolism,Cardiovascular,Cell Biology,Cell Death,Cytochromes,Energy Metabolism,Energy Transfer Pathways,Integration Of Energy,Integration Of Energy Metabolism,Invasion/Microenvironment,Lipases,Lipid and Lipoprotein Metabolism,Lipid Metabolism,Lipids/Lipoproteins,Metabolic Signaling Pathway,Metabolic Signaling Pathways,Metabolism,Metabolism Processes,Mitochondrial,Mitochondrial Markers,Mitochondrial Metabolism,Oxidative Phosphorylation,Pathways and Processes,Signal Transduction.
  • Current studies often focus on connecting target abundance/localization to pathway perturbations across models, tissues, and cell states.
  • Quantitative and multiplexed assays (e.g., imaging + immunoblot panels) are commonly used to compare phenotypes across conditions and time-courses.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): assess relative target abundance across samples, treatments, or time-points.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): evaluate spatial distribution of target-positive staining in tissue architecture.
  • Immunofluorescence/ICC (IF/ICC): visualize subcellular localization patterns and cell-to-cell heterogeneity.
  • Immunoprecipitation (IP): enrich target complexes for downstream immunoblot or interaction analyses.

Workflow ideas (metafield): Validate CYCS antibody specificity using KO/KD control samples (WB/IF/IHC as appropriate), Detect CYCS expression by Western blot in cell or tissue lysates, Detect CYCS in FFPE tissue sections by immunohistochemistry, Localize CYCS by immunofluorescence/immunocytochemistry in cultured cells, Enrich CYCS by immunoprecipitation from lysates for downstream analysis

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms and post-translational modifications (PTMs) that may shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Apparent molecular weight may vary by sample type and processing (observed MW: 14 kDa; calculated MW: 11749 MW).
  • Control concepts: include appropriate negative controls (e.g., isotype, KO/KD samples) and orthogonal validation when feasible.

Additional product details (from the source record)

  • Molecular weight (observed): 14 kDa
  • Cellular localization (provided): Mitochondrion intermembrane space. Loosely associated with the inner membrane.
  • Tissue details (provided): Expressed in a wide variety of tissues.

My team were well pleased with the WB result of your anti-Cytochrome C Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. However we have observed positive staining in brain mitochondrion intermembrane space. using this antibody. Is that expected? Could you tell me where is CYCS supposed to be expressed?
From what I have seen in literature, brain does express CYCS. Generally CYCS expresses in mitochondrion intermembrane space. Regarding which tissues have CYCS expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues: Amygdala, Pubmed ID: 17974005 Bone marrow, Brain, Kidney, Lung, Skeletal muscle, Skin, Testis, and Urinary bladder, Pubmed ID: 15489334 Cerebellum, Pubmed ID: 14702039 Erythroleukemia, Pubmed ID: 23186163 Heart, Pubmed ID: 13933734, 14063298, 9515723 Liver, Pubmed ID: 24275569
