Product Overview
Clone FEF-11 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes keratin, type I cytoskeletal 14 (gene KRT14) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 51.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 52 kDa.
Keratin 14 (KRT14) is a type I intermediate filament protein of the basal, proliferating layer of stratified epithelia. It pairs with keratin 5 to form bundled filaments that anchor to hemidesmosomes and desmosomes and resist mechanical stress. KRT14 is a common basal cell marker, and its mutations cause epidermolysis bullosa simplex, a skin blistering disorder.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A431 cells, human Hacat cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human stomach tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HACAT cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human cytokeratin 14.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places keratin, type I cytoskeletal 14 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the corneal epithelium (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
