Product Overview
Clone 22D79 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes disrupted in schizophrenia 1 protein (gene DISC1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 93.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 100 kDa.
DISC1 (disrupted in schizophrenia 1) is a scaffold protein that interacts with many partners at the centrosome, microtubules and synapses. It influences neural progenitor proliferation, neuronal migration and synapse development, including through Wnt/GSK3β signaling. DISC1 was identified at a chromosomal translocation in a family with major mental illness and is studied in neurodevelopment.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places disrupted in schizophrenia 1 protein in the cytoplasm, mitochondrion and postsynaptic density. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
