Product Overview
Clone 17D66 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase (gene DDC) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 53.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 53 kDa.
Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC, encoded by DDC) converts L-DOPA to dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptophan to serotonin. It therefore performs a key step in catecholamine and serotonin synthesis in neurons and peripheral tissues. DDC is studied in neurotransmitter metabolism, Parkinson's disease research and AADC deficiency.
