Product Overview
Clone AOGG-4 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes dystrophin (gene DMD) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 426.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 427 kDa.
Dystrophin (DMD) is a large cytoskeletal protein that links actin inside muscle fibers to the dystrophin-associated glycoprotein complex and, through dystroglycan, to the extracellular matrix. This connection stabilizes the muscle membrane during contraction. Loss of dystrophin causes Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and reduced function causes Becker muscular dystrophy, making it central to muscle disease research.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places dystrophin in the cell membrane, cytoplasm and postsynaptic cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in muscle fibers accumulating in the costameres of myoplasm at the sarcolemma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
