Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets elongation factor 2 (gene EEF2) in human, mouse, rat and monkey samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 95.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 95 kDa.
Elongation factor 2 (EEF2) is a GTPase that moves the ribosome along mRNA after each peptide bond is formed during translation. Its activity is switched off by eEF2 kinase phosphorylation, and it is a well-known target of diphtheria toxin.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U937 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human EEF2/Elongation factor 2. The peptide sequence is conserved in mouse and rat.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse, rat and monkey. UniProt places elongation factor 2 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
