Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets pro-epidermal growth factor (gene Egf) in mouse samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 133.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 134 kDa.
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small growth factor cut from a large membrane precursor. By binding and activating EGFR, it stimulates proliferation and survival of epithelial cells, and in the kidney it promotes magnesium reabsorption. It is widely used in cell culture and studied in development and cancer.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse kidney tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse EGF fragment (Asn977–Arg1029), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 69.8% and 77.4%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse. UniProt places pro-epidermal growth factor in the membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
