Product Overview
Clone 17E16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes epidermal growth factor receptor (gene EGFR) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 134.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 180 kDa.
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR, also called ErbB1 or HER1) is a receptor tyrosine kinase activated by EGF, TGF-α and related ligands. Ligand binding triggers receptor dimerization and activation of RAS/MAPK, PI3K/AKT and other pathways that drive proliferation and survival, and EGFR is a major target in cancer research.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human EGFR.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places epidermal growth factor receptor in the cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum membrane, Golgi apparatus membrane and nuclear membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
