Product Overview
Clone FAO-5 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A-1 (gene EIF5A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 16.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 18 kDa.
eIF5A is a small, highly conserved translation factor and the only protein known to carry the modified amino acid hypusine. It helps ribosomes move through difficult sequences such as polyproline stretches, supporting elongation and termination, and it is studied in cell proliferation and polyamine metabolism.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A-1 in the cytoplasm, nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in umbilical vein endothelial cells and several cancer cell lines (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
