Product Overview
Clone GBG-5 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes epithelial cell adhesion molecule (gene EPCAM) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 34.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 35 kDa.
EpCAM (CD326) is a transmembrane glycoprotein on most epithelial cells that mediates homophilic cell-cell adhesion. It also influences proliferation and stem cell maintenance, and it is highly expressed in many carcinomas. EpCAM is widely used to identify and isolate epithelial and circulating tumor cells, and EPCAM mutations cause congenital tufting enteropathy.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places epithelial cell adhesion molecule in the lateral cell membrane and cell junction. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly and selectively expressed by undifferentiated rather than differentiated embryonic stem cells (ESC). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
