Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets epigen (gene Epgn) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 16.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 17 kDa.
Epigen (EPGN) is a member of the EGF family of growth factors. It is made as a membrane-anchored precursor and released to bind and activate the EGF receptor (EGFR), triggering MAPK signaling that promotes the growth of epithelial cells. Compared with other EGFR ligands it is a low-affinity but potent mitogen.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse testis tissue, rat testis tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse Epigen fragment (Ala19–Lys109), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human ortholog: 82.8%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places epigen in the membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed at low levels in testis, heart and liver. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
