Product Overview
Clone ACOD-8 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase type-2 (gene HSD17B10) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 26.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 27 kDa.
HSD17B10 (also called ABAD or ERAB) is a multifunctional mitochondrial dehydrogenase. It works in the oxidation of fatty acids, the breakdown of isoleucine and steroid metabolism, and it is also a subunit of mitochondrial RNase P that processes mitochondrial tRNAs. It is studied in mitochondrial disease and in relation to amyloid-β binding.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ERAB.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase type-2 in the mitochondrion. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed in normal tissues but is overexpressed in neurons affected in AD. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
