| Immunogen | A synthesized peptide derived from human ERK2 Act as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals, and are involved in a wide variety of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development. The activation of ERK2 requires its phosphorylation by upstream kinases. ERK2 is located in the cytoplasm of resting cells and translocates into the nucleus upon extracellular stimuli by active transport of a dimer. ERK2 is essential for placental development and ERK2 in the trophoblast compartment may be indispensable for the vascularization of the labyrinth. |

Product Overview
Clone II-13 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 (gene MAPK1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 41.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 41 kDa.
ERK2 (MAPK1) is a serine/threonine kinase at the end of the RAS–RAF–MEK–ERK cascade. Activated by MEK1/2, it phosphorylates hundreds of cytoplasmic and nuclear substrates, including transcription factors that control proliferation, differentiation and survival, and phosphorylated ERK1/2 is one of the most common readouts of mitogenic signaling.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human melanoma tissue, human renal cancer tissue, rat lung tissue, mouse ovary tissue, rat skin tissue, human gastric adenocarcinoma tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ERK2.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 in the cytoplasm, nucleus, membrane and cell junction. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
