Rabbit Monoclonal

Product Overview

Clone HCD-13 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mitogen-activated protein kinase 7 (gene MAPK7) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 88.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 115 kDa.

ERK5 (MAPK7), also called big MAP kinase 1, is activated specifically by MEK5 in response to growth factors and cellular stress. Once active it moves to the nucleus and phosphorylates targets such as MEF2 transcription factors, and it is important for cardiovascular development, endothelial function and cell survival.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places mitogen-activated protein kinase 7 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in many adult tissues.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200; Flow cytometry 1:20; Immunoprecipitation 1:20. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Has this antibody been tested on bovine samples?
A.Reactivity with bovine samples has not been tested by the supplier. Aligning the immunogen sequence with the bovine ortholog (e.g., by BLAST) helps estimate the chance of cross-reactivity.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 88.4 kDa; observed band at about 115 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human ERK5.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
