Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (gene ESM1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 20.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25 kDa.
Endocan (ESM1) is a soluble dermatan sulfate proteoglycan secreted mainly by vascular endothelial cells. It is enriched in tip cells of sprouting vessels and promotes angiogenic sprouting, and it can influence leukocyte adhesion by binding LFA-1. Endocan is studied as a marker of endothelial activation in inflammation and cancer.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): recombinant human ESM1 protein.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Recombinant human ESM1 fragment (Trp20–Arg184), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in lung, on the vascular capillary network within alveolar walls, and also at lower level in kidney. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
