Product Overview

Clone 17F58 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes fatty acid-binding protein, heart (gene FABP3) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 14.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.

Heart fatty acid-binding protein (FABP3, H-FABP) is a small cytosolic protein abundant in cardiac and skeletal muscle. It carries long-chain fatty acids to sites of oxidation for energy production. Because it is released quickly from damaged cardiomyocytes, H-FABP is studied as an early marker of myocardial injury.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse heart tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human FABP3.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places fatty acid-binding protein, heart in the cytoplasm. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 14.9 kDa; observed band at about 15 kDa.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human FABP3.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
