Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects fatty acid-binding protein 5 (gene Fabp5) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for ICC/IF and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 15.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.
Fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5, also called epidermal FABP) is a cytosolic lipid carrier expressed in skin, brain, immune cells and other tissues. It transports fatty acids and endocannabinoids and can deliver certain fatty acids to the nucleus to activate PPARβ/δ, influencing cell growth and differentiation.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human RT4 cells, human PC-3 cells, rat lung tissue, mouse lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A549 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of mouse FABP5. Sequence identity with the human ortholog: 81.2%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places fatty acid-binding protein 5 in the cytoplasm, nucleus, synapse and postsynaptic density. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Widely expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
