Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets fibroblast growth factor 2 (gene FGF2) in human samples and is validated for ELISA, ICC/IF, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 30.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 17–21 kDa.
Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2, basic FGF) is a heparin-binding growth factor that activates FGF receptors 1–4. It is a potent mitogen that promotes cell proliferation, survival, migration and angiogenesis, and it is widely used as a supplement to maintain stem cells in culture. FGF2 is studied in development, tissue repair, angiogenesis and cancer.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human SKOV3 cells, human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human mammary cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human FGF2 fragment (Pro143–Ser288), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes fibroblast growth factor 2 as secreted and also located in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
