- Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
- Molecular weight: 33 kDa
- Applications: WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-FGF3 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A03316-2.
Biological background
Biological context: Conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide number of exogenous and endogenous hydrophobic electrophiles. May govern uptake and detoxification of both endogenous compounds and xenobiotics at the testis and brain blood barriers.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm., tissue context: Testis and brain..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare FGF3 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of FGF3 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify FGF3-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: INT-2 proto-oncogene protein also known as FGF-3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FGF3 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in a variety of biological processes including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This gene was identified by its similarity with mouse fgf3/int-2, a proto-oncogene activated in virally induced mammary tumors in the mouse. Frequent amplification of this gene has been found in human tumors, which may be important for neoplastic transformation and tumor progression. Studies of the similar genes in mouse and chicken suggested the role in inner ear formation.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Cytoplasm.
- Tissue details: Testis and brain.
