Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects fibrinogen alpha chain (gene FGA) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 95.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 95 kDa.
Fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA) is one of the three polypeptides of fibrinogen, a plasma glycoprotein made in the liver. During clotting, thrombin cleaves fibrinogen to release fibrinopeptides, and the resulting fibrin monomers polymerize into the insoluble mesh of a blood clot. The alpha chain is studied in hemostasis, thrombosis and wound healing.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Rat) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat skeletal muscle tissue, HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human FGA. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at two residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt describes fibrinogen alpha chain as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in blood plasma (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
