- Molecular weight: 75 kDa, calculated 28681 MW
- Applications: WB, IHC, IF, ICC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Fos B/FOSB Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01569-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Anticoagulant plasma protein; it is a cofactor to activated protein C in the degradation of coagulation factors Va and VIIIa. It helps to prevent coagulation and stimulating fibrinolysis.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Secreted., tissue context: Plasma..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare FOSB levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of FOSB in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify FOSB-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: FOSB, FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog B, is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the FOSB gene. FOSB is a member of Fos gene family which consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. The FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. The FOSB gene is mapped to 19q13.32. Delta FOSB is a truncated splice variant of FOSB. Delta FosB has been implicated in the development of drug addiction and control of the reward system in the brain, and is linked to changes in a number of other gene products such as CREB and sirtuins. Delta FosB also regulates the commitment of mesenchymal precursor cells to the adipocyte or osteoblast lineage.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Secreted.
- Tissue details: Plasma.
- Research category: Cardiovascular,Serum Proteins
