Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects protein cup in Fruit fly samples.
In Drosophila, Cup is an eIF4E-binding protein that represses translation of maternal mRNAs in the oocyte and early embryo. By binding eIF4E it blocks recruitment of eIF4G, and it also promotes deadenylation while protecting repressed transcripts from decay. Cup is studied in mRNA localization, such as oskar and nanos, and in germline development.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with Fruit fly. UniProt places protein cup in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (Drosophila): Predominantly expressed in ovaries and in 0–2 hours old embryos.
