Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets survival motor neuron protein (gene Smn) in Fruit fly samples.
In Drosophila, SMN (survival motor neuron) is the core of the SMN complex that assembles spliceosomal snRNPs in the cytoplasm and is needed for pre-mRNA splicing. Fly Smn mutants are a widely used model for studying the neuromuscular defects of spinal muscular atrophy.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with Fruit fly. UniProt places survival motor neuron protein in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (Drosophila): In late first instar larvae, expressed in pNBs.
